Ice Dogs Lose to Utah in Shootout

WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah — Jeff Sharples and Fred Knipscheer each had shootout goals to lift Utah past the Long Beach Ice Dogs, 2-1, Saturday night as the Grizzlies took over sole possession of first place in the IHL’s Southwest Division.
The Ice Dogs (19-13-4) fell to third place and trail the Grizzlies (20-9-4) by two points.
Patrik Augusta scored for the Ice Dogs in the second period on a power play.
Ice Dog goalie Mike Buzak, making his first start after Jamie Storr was recalled by the Kings last week, stopped 30 of 31 Grizzlies shots before a crowd of 10,212.
