Man Shot to Death; Father, 71, Arrested
ORANGE — A 71-year-old man was arrested in connection with the shooting death of his son Friday afternoon, following what police say was a family argument.
Edward Rivas Jr., 37, was found in the family’s frontyard bleeding to death with gunshot wounds to the chest and hip and stab wounds to his neck and abdomen, Sgt. Bob Green said.
Rivas was transported to UCI Medical Center in Orange, where he was pronounced dead.
The victim’s father, Edward Rivas Sr., who had stabbed himself in the abdomen, was taken to an undisclosed hospital, where he is expected to recover, Green said.
