Ventura resident Ginger Frandsen, a social worker who recently started working as a nurse’s assistant for the Ventura Unified School District, died Friday in a local hospital following a brief illness. She was 47.

Frandsen was born Jan. 10, 1950, in Minneapolis, Minn., and was a 12-year resident of Ventura. She was a social worker for Ventura County for several years, and recently started working as a nurse’s assistant at Mound and Arnaz elementary schools and at De Anza Middle School.

Her recreational activities included jogging and tennis.

Frandsen is survived by her husband, William; son Darryl Koster of Thousand Oaks; daughter Dana Koster of Ventura; stepson Steve Frandsen of Green Valley, Calif.; stepdaughter Susan Siebuhr of Sylmar; mother Miriam Messing of St. Paul, Minn.; and sister Cindy Bell of Minneapolis.

Friends may call today from 2 to 8 p.m. at Ted Mayr Funeral Home, Ventura.

Services will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Community Presbyterian Church in Ventura with the Rev. Edwin Crist officiating. Burial will follow in Ivy Lawn Memorial Park, Ventura.

Arrangements are under the direction of Ted Mayr Funeral Home.
