Deputies Cite Store Employees for Selling Alcohol to Minors
During a weekend undercover sting operation, sheriff’s deputies in Thousand Oaks and Moorpark cited employees from four liquor stores and food outlets for selling alcohol to minors, authorities said.
According to officials, officers on Saturday night cited employees at Ventu Park Liquor on Ventu Park Road in Newbury Park, La Gloria Market on Moorpark Avenue, Shell Oil Market and Chuy’s Restaurant, both on Los Angeles Avenue in Moorpark, for selling alcohol to several Sheriff’s Department decoys between 18 and 19 years old.
The sting coincided with high school graduations and the beginning of summer vacation. Letters were sent out in advance by the Alcohol Control Board to all area outlets to let them know the operation would be conducted.
The businesses that did not sell to the underage decoys will be thanked by the Sheriff’s Department.
A similar sting operation conducted in June led to 11 businesses being cited for peddling alcohol to minors.
