School’s Web Site Wins ‘Cool’ Award

Education World, an educational Web site on the Internet, has named Hollywood Beach School the “Cool School of the Week.”

The award was given to the Hueneme School District campus for its Web site’s outstanding visual appeal, creativity and originality as well as the school’s intense student and community involvement in the project.

The web site located at https://www.huensd.k12.ca.us/beach features highlights of student projects, including drawings, photographs and illustrated books. It offers a calendar of school events and information for parents about school and office personnel.

“The Internet is an excellent motivator to help kids produce their very best work,” said Mindy Sharp, a special-education teacher and Web site project manager. “The Internet is a fantastic source of information that opens up the walls of the classroom and makes the kids excited about learning.”
