Poll: Clinton Getting Credit for Prosperity
The economy’s strong performance has lifted President Clinton’s job approval rating to a record 64%--up from 56% last month--according to a new ABC News/Washington Post poll released. The rise in Clinton’s approval rating coincides with new record highs this week in the stock market and in consumer confidence, as measured by the ABC News/Money magazine poll. In the ABC/Money poll, the “Consumer Comfort Index” rose to a record plus 10 on the scale of plus 100 to minus 100. Some 57% the respondents said the economy was in good shape, and 62% said their finances were OK.
