Stella Singh; 60-Year Port Hueneme Resident
Stella Singh, a 60-year resident of Port Hueneme and a former plant packer, died Monday. She was 71.
Born March 1, 1926, in Riverside, she later moved to Port Hueneme and was employed by Oxnard Citrus Assn. and Deardorff-Jackson Co.
Singh was a member of the Oxnard Eagles No. 232 women’s auxiliary and belonged to the women’s International Bowling Congress for 30 years.
She bowled with a club called the Wednesday Dreamers.
Singh is survived by her husband, Norman, and daughter, Joyce, both of Port Hueneme; brother Alfred Estrada of Oxnard; sisters Nora Wood, Eloise Palomares and Helen Apodaca, all of Oxnard. She is also survived by Rebecca Boyle, whom family members say was like a daughter to her.
Singh was preceded in death by her son, Thomas, and sister Jennie Munoz.
Visitation is from 3 to 9 p.m. today, with a 7 p.m. vigil at the James A. Reardon Mortuary in Oxnard. Funeral services will begin at 9:30 a.m. Friday at Mary Star of the Sea Catholic Church in Oxnard. Singh will be buried in Santa Clara Cemetery.
