Budget Cleared at $11.1 Million
With little discussion, the City Council earlier this month unanimously passed an $11.1-million budget for fiscal 1998.
The spending plan includes a 5.1% increase in revenue from last year’s $10-million budget and a $286,000 savings from the consolidation of the Capistrano Valley Water District into the city’s operations.
The budget also includes more than $3 million for public safety, $2.1 million to start construction on the long-awaited community center at the Sports Park, $73,000 for new or expanded public works projects and $50,000 for economic development programs.
