Compton Man Suspected in Shooting of Officer
Police named a 29-year-old Compton man Thursday as the suspect in last week’s shooting of a Long Beach motorcycle officer.
Investigators allege that Aaron Hefflin, who they say associates with members of Compton’s Willow Street gang, shot Officer Brian Watt in the head and leg July 9 after Watt stopped a speeding vehicle that had been carjacked. Watts’ helmet partially deflected the bullet and he is expected to fully recover, authorities said.
Hefflin is described as 5 feet, 6 inches tall, 160 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. He is considered armed and dangerous, police said.
Anyone with information about the suspect is asked to call investigators at (562) 570-7244 during regular business hours, or (562) 435-6711.
