Times Program Wins 3 Awards
Times in Education, which provides newspapers and courses for schools throughout Southern California, has won three awards from the Newspaper Assn. of America Foundation, including first place for general excellence.
The foundation announced the winners July 7 at its Newspapers in Education Conference in Orlando, Fla. Newspapers in Education is a cooperative effort between schools and newspapers to promote the use of newspapers as an educational resource.
Times in Education, a division of Times Mirror, won the general excellence award for newspapers with a circulation of more than 250,000. The Chicago Tribune won second place and the Houston Chronicle won third place.
In the “original curriculum materials” division, Times in Education won first place for its program “The Road to the White House ’96.”
Times in Education won second place in the “collaborative efforts” division for a program on Anne Frank that the Fullerton Museum helped coordinate.
