Worker Drowns in Pool at Resort
A Los Angeles man who worked and lived part time in Ojai while working on the Ojai Valley Inn drowned in the resort’s pool, officials said Wednesday.
Leon Boyce, a 36-year-old construction worker who was working with a contractor on renovations at the hotel, was found floating face-down about 10:15 p.m. Tuesday by hotel guests, said Thad Hyland, the inn manager.
Guests said they had seen Boyce swimming alone in the hotel pool about 10 p.m., Hyland said.
“It was a matter of only about 15 minutes’ time,” he said.
Hotel security guards administered cardiopulmonary resuscitation, but Boyce never regained consciousness, Hyland said.
