Store Owner Slain in Attempted Robbery
A Redondo Beach convenience store owner was slain early Friday during an attempted robbery at his Artesia Boulevard market, police said.
Houssam Joudi, 31, was shot in the chest at 1:02 a.m. as the store was closing, Police Sgt. Jim Acquarelli said
Witnesses said that after demanding money, the gunman struggled with Joudi and shot him. The suspect fled and was last seen running north on Vail Avenue.
Acquarelli said it is unclear whether the suspect escaped with any money. Cash was found on the floor and in the doorway.
