IBM Wins Dismissal of Keyboard-Injury Suit
Bloomberg News
IBM Corp. bolstered its winning record in keyboard-injury lawsuits as an appeals court threw out a former data processor’s claims against the computer maker. The U.S. 3rd Circuit Court of Appeals in Philadelphia affirmed a lower court’s dismissal of Beverly Schneck’s keyboard-injury lawsuit against Armonk, N.Y.-based IBM, according to the trade group Center for Office Technology. Schneck claimed that repeated use of card-punching and data-entry machines made by the world’s largest computer maker gave her wrist and hand injuries. Her 1992 lawsuit said IBM distributed defective keyboards and failed to warn consumers about them.
