The NHL is investigating an incident Sunday between Craig Berube of the Washington Capitals and Peter Worrell of the Panthers in which a racial slur might have been uttered.

The players scuffled along the boards near the end of the Capitals’ 5-2 victory at Miami and exchanged words. After the game, Berube went to the Panther locker room to talk to Worrell, who is black. Worrell sent word through a Panther employee that he didn’t want to speak to Berube. Worrell declined to say whether Berube made a racial slur.
