5K and 10K Runs Are Plainly for the Birds
Amigos de Bolsa Chica will sponsor a 5K and 10K race Saturday to benefit its quest to acquire and preserve the wetlands.
The 18th annual Running for the Birds raises awareness about the creatures that nest in the Bolsa Chica wetlands.
Prizes include photos of birds, ribbons and raffle offerings.
Entry fees for adults are $23 with an event T-shirt and $12 without one. Children pay $17 with a shirt and $12 without. Parking is free at Bolsa Chica State Beach before 8 a.m.
Registration begins at 7 a.m. at the Bolsa Chica wetlands, Pacific Coast Highway at Warner Avenue. The first race, the 10K, begins at 8:30 a.m.
Times are officially clocked by Prime Time, which helps runners qualify for major races like the Boston Marathon.
