Safety Festival to Be Hosted by Firefighters
Ever wonder how firefighters save lives and property?
The Fire Department will hold Fire Safety Fest ’97 from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Central Net Training Center, 18301 Gothard St.
The free event will feature firefighters combating a flammable-liquids fire in an overturned tanker truck, removing a “seriously injured” person from a vehicle by using a hydraulic prying device, and a building rescue. The Fire Department also will demonstrate above-ground and aerial rescues.
There also will be informational booths on fire safety, and a turn-of-the-century, steam fire engine will be demonstrated.
