FOR THE KIDS
Hundreds of adults and children packed Crystal Court in Costa Mesa on Sunday to attend Pumpkins & Pan- cakes, a breakfast benefit for Friends of Court Appointed Special Advocates and Child Abuse Service Team.
While proud moms and pops looked on, children decorated Halloween masks and trick-or-treat bags and watched a performance by Parachute Express. Net proceeds of about $16,000 from the annual benefit will go toward programs that assist and support abused children. Founded in 1985, Court Appointed Special Advocates recruits, trains and supervises volunteer caseworkers who help abused children find permanent homes. Volunteers with the Child Abuse Services Team help provide emergency short- term help for children whose families are being investigated for child abuse.
