LOCAL NOTES
Josh McLeish, who turned down several Division I scholarships to play for his father at Southern California College this season, will transfer to Cal State Fullerton, SCC Coach David McLeish said Tuesday.
“It’s time for Josh to move on to bigger and better things,” the elder McLeish said. “But it was a great time for both of us.”
It hasn’t been a great season, however. Injuries and academic ineligibility plagued the Vanguards, who are 7-12 this season and failed to make the Golden State Athletic Conference playoffs.
McLeish, a first-team All-Southern Section midfielder at San Clemente High as a junior, transferred to Capistrano Valley Christian and had to sit out the 1996-97 season. He will be a sophomore at Fullerton.
