Police Arrest Teen in Brand Park Fire
GLENDALE — A 14-year-old boy was arrested for allegedly starting a brush fire that blackened about 15 acres in Brand Park Saturday, police said.
The boy, whose name was not released because he is a minor, was being held at the East Lake Detention Center in Los Angeles on suspicion of arson, said Glendale Police Sgt. Russ Pierce.
Pierce said no one was injured in the fire and no homes were threatened. Authorities will decide this week whether to press charges against the boy, he said.
The fire began on Mountain Street at 2:30 p.m. About 15 engine companies from Glendale, Burbank and Pasadena and four water-dropping helicopters from Los Angeles city and county fire departments responded to the blaze.
