Pub Wins Appeal for Liquor License
A divided City Council has reversed an earlier Planning Commission decision and will allow hard liquor to be served at the Clubhouse Family Sports Grill--the main gathering place for supporters of the local Little League team during its successful quest for this year’s national championship.
The pub, which currently serves beer and wine, “has a proven record of being responsible,” said Councilwoman Susan Withrow, who voted in favor of its appeal.
Withrow said the eatery, situated at 23641 Via Linda, previously had a hard liquor license for six years under different management without causing any problems.
But Councilwoman Sherri M. Butterfield said she does not like “placing the sale of hard liquor in direct proximity to [Alicia] park.”
Butterfield said she also is uncomfortable “with the sale of hard liquor in a family establishment.”
