Fiesta to Feature Games, Music, Picnic
Latino leaders will host the fourth annual Roy Alvarado Memorial Fiesta Cultural from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at Lion’s Park.
The event seeks to unite youths, parents and civic leaders. Featured is a softball game for youths, city officials and business people.
The festival honors Roy Alvarado, who organized the first softball game before dying of cancer two years ago.
Avila’s El Ranchito, Taco Mesa and El Chicano restaurants plan to cater, and ballet folklorico and Native American groups are to perform.
Organizers this year include Families-Costa Mesa, the Latino Leadership Council, Madres-Costa Mesa, Operation Clean Slate, Save Our Youth, Todos Hermanos and the YMCA.
Admission is free. Lunch tickets are $2.50 for those 12 and under and $3.50 for adults. Lion’s Park is at 570 W. 18th St.
