Valley Hires May
Doug Michelson, Valley College’s men’s basketball coach, has hired former Hart Coach Mike May as an assistant.
May still teaches at Hart. Michelson has six assistant coaches.

Injured and out: Former Notre Dame High tailback Jabbar Craigwell, the top returning player at Yale, won’t play this season because of a broken navicular bone in his left wrist. Craigwell was an All-Ivy League choice last season.

Molly Cahan, a Harvard-Westlake sophomore who earned second-team All-Mission League honors in girls’ soccer last season, has torn a knee ligament and will miss the upcoming high school season.
Cahan was injured Sept. 21 during a match with her club team.

Soccer update: The Cal State Northridge men’s soccer team fell to Santa Clara, 4-1, Sunday in a match at the Santa Clara tournament.

Aamon Ross scored his second goal of the season in the 13th minute to give the Matadors (1-8) a 1-0 lead. Northridge has lost five consecutive matches, 15 of its last 16 and has been outscored, 38-9, in that span.

Martina Holan scored on an overtime penalty kick to lift Colorado College past Pepperdine, 2-1, late Saturday night.

Tennis tour: The Burbank Tennis Center has been selected to play host to a HealthSouth Assn. of Tennis Professionals Tour Challenger tournament Nov. 24-30. Sixty tour players will compete for $50,000.
