Forum to Discuss Plan for School’s Reopening
The Unified School District will hold a community forum Thursday to discuss how to divide grade levels when the former El Segundo Junior High School reopens in September 1999.
The school was formerly used as a training site for the Los Angeles Raiders, but the district plans to turn it into an elementary school. The district would then have two elementary schools, one middle school and one high school.
Supt. Bill Watkins said the district is trying to figure out how to distribute students among the campuses. He said the meeting will focus on which configurations would be most cost effective and provide the best curriculum for the students.
The forum is scheduled for 7 p.m. at the Center Street School at 700 Center St.
