La Habra’s Beutner Keys Baseball Win
Shaun Beutner drove in seven runs as La Habra defeated Los Angeles Westchester, 16-6, in six innings Friday at the Las Vegas baseball tournament.
Beutner drove in runs on a sacrifice fly, a three-run double, a two-run homer and a one-run single.
La Habra’s Jessie Delgado was four for four.
The win was the second of the day for La Habra, which defeated West Jordan (Utah), 8-2, earlier. La Habra has won six consecutive games.
Against West Jordan, Bubba Cauley pitched a five-hitter with eight strikeouts and one walk to earn his third straight victory. Cauley, among the county leaders in earned-run average, is 4-2. Al Estrada was three for three with a double and a triple. David Casado homered and drove in three runs against West Jordan.
In Century League baseball:
No. 5 Foothill 14, Orange 9--Foothill scored six runs in the top of the fourth to take an 11-0 lead, but Orange scored three runs in the fourth inning and five more in the fifth.
Foothill’s Chad Concolino had three hits, scored three runs and stole two bases. Seth Davenport, Shane Stewart and Chris Calacci each had two RBIs for the Knights (10-2, 6-0).
Orange’s Evan Gramley had two hits and drove in four runs. Teammate Derald Deason had two hits, including a double, and scored twice for the Panthers (4-9, 2-5).
Canyon 12, Villa Park 8--Jason Corapci had three hits, two RBIs and two stolen bases to lead Canyon (11-3, 6-1), which broke the game open with seven runs in the fourth inning. Brett Chandler had two hits and Tommy Duarte hit his seventh home run of the season.
In Golden West League softball:
Westminster 3, Ocean View 2 (13 innings)--Janis Chavez singled, went to second on a wild pitch and scored on a single by Lauree Tollen to win it for Westminster (5-2, 1-0). Tina Tuskewicz (5-2) went the distance to win. Tia Jordan (4-3) was the loser. Ocean View is 7-6, 0-1.
In Empire League boys’ volleyball:
El Dorado 3, Century 0--Matt Peacock had 20 kills and setter Ryan Carlos had 32 assists for El Dorado (11-1, 8-0), which won, 15-3, 15-7, 15-11.
In the Golden West League:
Tustin 3, Westminster 1--Daniel Dixon had 17 kills for Tustin (5-4, 3-2), which won, 17-15, 6-15, 15-9, 15-1. Jared Barnes had 26 kills for Westminster (6-5, 3-2).
