Gold Mind Inc., the Elektra-distributed label owned by Missy “Misdemeanor” Elliott, is set to debut with “Make It Hot,” a single going to radio in the next two weeks from Nicole, a teenage performer from Elliott’s hometown of Portsmouth, Va. Elliott wrote and appears on the track, which was produced by Timbaland. . . .
Willie Nelson recorded a new album, “Teatro,” with producer Daniel Lanois, at Lanois’ Oxnard studio. Emmylou Harris guests on most tracks on the album, which is said to have almost a rumba feel to it, and is due in August from Island Records. . . .
Busta Rhymes is overseeing an album, also due in August, featuring members of the Flip Mode Squad, the artists who work with him on his own records, including Rampage and DJ Scratch, both familiar figures in Rhymes’ videos. . . .
After having written and rehearsed at home in Ireland, the Cranberries will head to France next month to record a new album, tentatively due in the fall. . . . A clip for Deep Forest’s song “Noon Day Sun” will be the music video debut of director Michelle Ohayan, whose “Colors Straight Up” was nominated for a long-form documentary Oscar this year.
