Reseda Man Shot to Death in Alley
NORTHRIDGE — Police on Saturday were investigating the fatal shooting the day before of a 20-year-old Reseda man in an alley along Roscoe Boulevard.
Jesus Morales was shot several times in the chest about 11:30 p.m. Friday, said Sgt. John Armour of the Los Angeles Police Department’s Devonshire Division. The shooting occurred behind homes along the 18000 block of Roscoe Boulevard in Northridge.
A friend took Morales to Northridge Hospital Medical Center, where he died a short time later, Armour said.
Witnesses told police that Morales had been arguing with a group, and that a member of the group shot Morales with a handgun, Armour said.
Members of the group ran from the scene, police were told. No descriptions were available from police. Police said the shooting is being treated as a gang-related crime.
On Saturday, the shooting scene was turned into a makeshift memorial to Morales. The spot was marked by a glass vase containing roses, sunflowers and carnations beside unlit candles and an unopened can of beer. A prayer card was propped against the vase.
