‘Newsroom’ News
Thank you, Howard Rosenberg, for bringing “The Newsroom” to our attention (“Not Just Another Sitcom,” April 17). I would hate to have missed the cleverest show to come along since Comedy Central carried the British skit “Drop the Dead Donkey” a few years ago.
The show is adult in the best sense of the word, intelligent, and most of all is blessed with the absence of canned laughter. This is the sort of thing that makes our contributions to KCET almost painless.

In his glowing review of the satirical sitcom “The Newsroom,” Rosenberg was irresponsible when he wrote, “. . . the best way to watch it being to patiently let it wash over you and then wait for the drug to kick in.” He apparently wanted to use a fresh, sophisticated metaphor, but there’s nothing fresh or sophisticated about taking a drug and waiting for it to kick in.
In addition, the metaphor is just amateurish writing. Drugs destroy the mind. Satire sharpens it.
