Update--Here’s how solid the Galaxy’s postseason chances are: To miss the playoffs, Los Angeles would have to lose all of its remaining eight games, the Dallas Burn would have to win all nine of its remaining games in regulation, not by shootout, and would have to defeat the Galaxy, 40-0, in one of those games. This is the last chance the Wizards have of avoiding a season sweep. Los Angeles has won the three previous games, outscoring Kansas City, 6-1, in the process. The first-place Galaxy has won two in a row and can clinch the playoff spot with a win tonight. Coach Ron Newman’s team, coming off a 3-1 come-from-behind win over the Colorado Rapids, is in fourth place and in a four-way fight with Dallas, Colorado and San Jose for a playoff berth. The Wizards have the league’s worst road record at 2-9. The Galaxy is 8-3 at the Rose Bowl.
