AIDS Care Plans Training Workshop
A three-day workshop has been scheduled for next month to train volunteers for AIDS Care Inc.’s buddy program.
The program matches HIV-positive patients from Ventura County with volunteers who assist with their needs. For instance, a volunteer may be asked to provide transportation, grocery shopping or accompany a patient to a movie.
The workshop, scheduled Sept. 11-13, will inform volunteers about trends in medication and the struggles those with HIV face.
Volunteers are asked to make a six-month commitment when they become a buddy, but hours are flexible. A buddy can volunteer for as few as 10 hours a month or as much as a few days each week.
Those interested in registering for the workshop can call 805-643-0446. The workshop will be held at the AIDS Care office, 73 N. Palm St., Ventura.
The nonprofit group serves more than 170 people.
