Letter Bombs Prompt Nationwide Alert

Australian police issued a nationwide alert after 21 parcel bombs were found in a Canberra mail office where a similar bomb exploded early this morning, injuring two people. Officials said the packages were addressed to local tax collectors. A federal police spokeswoman said said a similar device had been found and defused at a Sydney mail sorting office Tuesday, bringing the total of letter bombs to 23. Police urged caution if any similar devices were found and issued a free phone information number for the public.
