John Schauerman; Electrical Engineer
Westlake Village resident John Schauerman died at home Monday following a brief illness. He was 66.
Schauerman was born Nov. 29, 1932, in Bronx, N. Y. He earned a bachelor’s degree in engineering from Manhattan College and a master’s degree in math from Adelphi College in Long Island.
He lived in New York for 39 years before moving with his family to Westlake Village in 1971 to take a job as an electrical engineer at Litton, an electronics company based in Woodland Hills.
Schauerman was a member of St. Jude’s Catholic Church in Westlake Village, the Knights of Columbus and First Neighborhood Homeowners Assn. In his free time, he enjoyed sailing and golfing.
Schauerman is survived by his wife of 44 years, Mary; three sons, Thomas Schauerman of Hermosa Beach, William Schauerman of San Pedro and John Schauerman of Palos Verdes; five daughters, Anne Cohen of Oak Park, Peggy Field of Graham, Wash., Cathy Haviland of Sacramento, Eileen Warner of Piqua, Ohio, and Jane Heiting of Portland, Ore., and 24 grandchildren.
There will be a vigil from 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Pierce Brothers Valley Oaks Mortuary in Westlake Village. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Jude’s Catholic Church in Westlake Village, with interment to follow at Pierce Brothers Valley Oaks Memorial Park in Westlake Village.
