Taylor Adjusts to Ups, Downs

Clipper rookie forward Maurice Taylor, who proved that he can hold his own against San Antonio Spur rookie forward Tim Duncan, scored 18 points in a 109-86 loss at San Antonio on Wednesday. But Taylor looked like he wasn’t even on the same court with Duncan in Friday’s 10-point loss to the Spurs.

Taylor missed four of five shots and had five points and five rebounds. Duncan had 27 points and 12 rebounds.

“Rookies have nights where they rush it,” Clipper Coach Bill Fitch said. “He played Communist basketball, he was rushin’ everything.”

Taylor said he tries to be consistent.

“If I have a bad game it’s a rookie game,” Taylor said. “If somebody else has a bad game, it’s just a bad game.”

Guard James Robinson, who missed all six shots he took in the loss to the Spurs, said his timing is off.

“I don’t have any rhythm now,” Robinson said. “I’ve got to get in a spot where I can play consistently. I’m kind of up and down right now and that’s how my game is now, up and down.”
