There’s Brief Trouble Ahead for Trojan Fans
In his Morning Briefing of Jan. 31, Mal Florence felt compelled to let his readers know that the largest attendance at any Pac-10 basketball game was 15,517 and occurred at the Sports Arena in a game between USC and UCLA on Feb. 27, 1992, in which he felt he had to add that USC had defeated UCLA.
Such pertinent information in a vacuum was overshadowed by the fact that the figure of 15,517 coincidentally happens to be the same number of total fans who have attended all USC basketball games combined since Feb. 27, 1992, at the Sports Arena.
It’s time for Florence to stop hyping for good old SC. What was was and is no more. Get over it.

Given that UCLA just finished assembling either the best or second-best group of football recruits in the nation, will begin contending for the national championship every year and has beaten USC seven years in a row, I respectfully suggest that the Trojans turn their efforts to becoming a basketball school.
