Two Pedestrians Killed Crossing Streets in Santa Ana, Buena Park
Two people were killed Wednesday when they were struck by vehicles while crossing streets in Buena Park and Santa Ana. Neither pedestrian was in a crosswalk, police said.
Nam Hoa Dao, 96, of Santa Ana was crossing 1st Street near Maxine Street when he was struck about 5:50 p.m., Santa Ana Police Lt. Jose Garcia said. Dao died at the scene.
That crash remains under investigation.
About 6 p.m., a 73-year-old Pennsylvania woman was struck by a pickup truck as she crossed Orangethorpe Avenue west of Knott Avenue, Buena Park Police Lt. Mac McNeilly said.
Patricia Freet of Chambersburg, Pa., was visiting family in Buena Park, McNeilly said. She died at UCI Medical Center in Orange.
McNeilly said the 20-year-old driver did not see Freet.
