Navy Seeks Volunteers for Base Cleanup Panel
The U.S. Navy needs volunteers to serve on an advisory panel that monitors the military’s efforts to clean up hazardous materials dumped at the Naval Weapons Station.
Mario Voce, chairman of the Restoration Advisory Board membership committee, said about 70 sites on the base are in various stages of cleanup. The panel offers advice on cleanup operations and also helps the Navy stay in touch with its civilian neighbors.
The group meets for about two hours on the second Wednesday of each month at 7 p.m.
All applicants are welcome. For more information, call Voce at (562) 421-4760 or Robert Robinson of the base’s environmental division at (562) 626-6069.
Inquiries can be faxed to (562) 626-7999.
