Taylor Struggles With Tendinitis

Rookie forward Maurice Taylor, who sat out Tuesday night’s loss to the Utah Jazz at Salt Lake City because of a knee injury, played only nine minutes in Wednesday night’s loss to the Washington Wizards.

Coach Bill Fitch had said Taylor, who woke up with tendinitis Tuesday morning after playing in Saturday’s rookie All-Star game in New York, might be ready Wednesday.

But Taylor made only one of two shots and had two points and one rebound in his brief appearance.

Taylor, however, brought the crowd to life with a sensational block of a Tracy Murray jump shot in the second quarter.

Guard Eric Piatkowski, who averaged 15.1 points and shot 50.6% in his first seven starts while Brent Barry was sidelined because of a heel injury, had only four points and two rebounds against the Wizards.

Piatkowski, who had made a three-point shot in nine consecutive games, missed all three three-point shots he attempted.
