Losses Go From Bad to Worse

USC’s performances during its latest three-game losing streak have gone from bad to worse. Against Oregon State, USC lost in overtime. Against Oregon, the game wasn’t put out of reach until the Ducks bombarded USC with four consecutive unanswered three-pointers late in the game. Against California, the Trojans managed to stay competitive for the first nine minutes, then failed to score on nine consecutive possessions, a span of more than five minutes, and the fight seeped out of them.

“Nobody has given up around here,” USC Coach Henry Bibby said. “Anybody who gives up is a loser, and there are no losers here.”

Update--USC has lost seven of its last eight games. The 73-43 loss to California on Thursday was the Trojans’ worst since Stanford beat them, 99-62, Jan. 15. USC, which shot 25.9% against Cal and is last in the Pac-10 in field-goal percentage (42.9%).
