2 Robbers Killed in Store Heist Identified
Los Angeles police have released the names of two people allegedly shot to death by a shop clerk following an armed robbery at a jewelry store on Valentine’s Day.
The suspects were identified as Ruben Herrera, 27, and Lilia Moran, 34, both of Los Angeles, police said Tuesday.
Both were mortally wounded as they ran from the store with two other suspects, police said. The pair who ran off with an undisclosed amount of jewelry remain at large and are considered armed and dangerous, police said.
Investigators said the four suspects robbed the store, Joyeria Segovia on Victory Boulevard near Woodley Avenue, about 1 p.m. Saturday.
A handgun that police believe was used in the robbery was found on the pavement between the bodies of Herrera and Moran, police said.
Nelson Segovia, 39, the store owner’s son-in-law, allegedly shot the two suspects as they ran from the store, police said.
Segovia, who was alone in the store at the time of the shooting, was questioned after the incident and released, police said.
The results of the police investigation will be turned over to the Los Angeles County district attorney’s office, which will determine whether Segovia will be charged with a crime.
