Feig Leads Louisville with Four Goals, 8-6
Kim Feig scored four goals, including two of Louisville’s three in the fourth quarter, and the Royals rallied to defeat Arcadia, 8-6, in the quarterfinals of the Southern Section Division II girls’ water polo playoffs Tuesday at Pierce College.
Feig, a versatile senior who plays both in the two-meter hole and at driver, also scored twice in Louisville’s three-goal first quarter to help the Royals to a 3-2 edge.
Louisville (21-2) led, 4-3, at halftime, but lost the advantage when Arcadia got third-quarter goals from Janella Spindler, Jane Choi and Angela Schacgtama.
The trio stepped up to give the Apaches a 6-5 edge heading into the fourth quarter. Lisa Stella sparked the Apaches’ offense in the first half, converting once in each of the first two periods.
Kiley Grombarcher, who finished with two goals, opened the scoring for Louisville early in the fourth quarter to tie the game, 6-6, and Feig broke the deadlock with her last two goals. Feig, the Royals’ leading scorer, has 71 goals this season.
In another Division II quarterfinal game:
Righetti 14, Harvard-Westlake 8--Nicole Palera scored six goals for Righetti to upset the second-seeded Wolverines, who needed seven hours to reach the site of the game because of weather damage to Highway 101.
Jeanine Jackson scored three goals for Harvard-Westlake (13-1). Righetti is 17-9.
