Gay Groups Will Honor Volunteers
The fifth annual Take Pride Awards Celebration will take place Saturday on the campus of UC Irvine.
The awards, sponsored by the Orange County Federation, a coalition representing more than 40 Orange County gay, lesbian, and HIV/AIDS service organizations, will begin at 7:30 p.m. in the Crystal Cove Auditorium.
Two gay and lesbian leaders, the Rev. Mel White and professional golfer Muffin Spencer-Devlin, will present awards.
Mistress of ceremonies will be Pearl Jemison-Smith, a longtime community activist who co-founded AIDS Walk Orange County.
The awards recognize outstanding volunteer service by individuals and organizations.
Tickets are $10 in advance; $12 at the door.
