Council Considers Outreach Meetings
A meeting between the City Council and residents of southeast Huntington Beach may be the first in a series of outreach efforts under an initiative proposed by Mayor Shirley Dettloff.
After several years of hiatus, the outreach programs would offer residents a chance to bring neighborhood issues to City Council members.
Under Dettloff’s plan, the meetings would periodically be on Monday evenings, alternating with regular City Council sessions.
“The goal is to have a meeting so that we can exchange ideas, answer questions, basically anything residents want to discuss,” Dettloff said.
Last month, several council members suggested a traveling council meeting, after southeastern residents complained about a lack of representation by the City Council.
The proposal will be considered Monday at 7 p.m. at City Hall, 2000 Main St.
