Holiday Closings

Today is New Year’s Day. The following schedules will be in effect:

* All city, county, state and federal offices will be closed. City offices in Brea and Yorba Linda also will be closed Friday.

* County, state and federal courthouses will be closed. On Friday, the federal court will be open for emergency filings only. All others will be on regular schedule.

* City and county libraries will be closed.

* Banks and savings and loans will be closed.

* Schools: Public schools, community colleges, Cal State Fullerton, UC Irvine and Chapman University are closed for winter recess.

* Mail: There will be no mail delivery. All post offices will be closed, and mail deposited in mailboxes will be picked up according to the posted holiday schedule.

* Trash: There will be no trash collection. Neighborhoods scheduled for today pickups will have trash collected on Friday and those scheduled for Friday pickups will have trash collected on Saturday, except in Anaheim, Brea, Garden Grove, Orange, Placentia, Yorba Linda, Villa Park and Fullerton. In those cities, only today’s trash collection will be delayed.

* Buses: Orange County Transportation Authority buses will run on a holiday schedule. Buses will run less frequently and some routes will not be operating at all. Information: (714) 636-7433.

* Parks: All city- and county-run parks and recreation facilities will be open regular hours.
