Sandra W. Meyer, 60, who inspired a Broadway play and helped blaze a trail for female business executives. She was the first female product-group manager at General Foods Corp. in 1969, running marketing campaigns for such major brands as Maxwell House coffee. In 1980, Meyer joined American Express, where she was head of worldwide marketing. She later became president of the communications division. As the first woman to run corporate affairs at Citicorp, in 1989, she was widely credited with restoring the reputation of the banking firm after it had undergone a financial crisis. Her sister, playwright Wendy Wasserstein, wrote “The Sisters Rosensweig” about a banker who is visited on her 54th birthday by her two sisters. The drama enjoyed a long Broadway run.
