STINGRAYS TONIGHT
Opponent--San Jose Lasers.
Time--7:30.
Records--Long Beach 15-10, San Jose 15-13.
Site--The Pyramid, Long Beach.
Update--Having finally crafted a three-game winning streak, Long Beach takes on the ABL’s hottest team tonight. The Lasers have won nine in a row in shooting past slumping Colorado for third place in the Western Conference and, presumably, drawing a bead on second-place Long Beach. San Jose was 8-0 in December. The StingRays defeated conference leader Portland (17-11) twice within 24 hours last week, after a three-point victory over Colorado. This is the second of four consecutive home games for the StingRays, their longest home stand of the season. Tonight’s game matches the league’s two highest-scoring and rebounding teams. The StingRays’ Yolanda Griffith continues to lead the league in rebounding at 11.8 per game and in steals, at 3.0 per game.
