Sale of 2 Lots OKd for Street Widening
The city has agreed to pay $1.35 million for two lots needed to widen Bristol Street, one of the city’s main thoroughfares.
The parcels at 1441 and 1443 S. Bristol St., occupied by Taco Miendo restaurant and a gas station, are among the last pending final sale for the estimated $120-million widening project. Federal and county funds are being used to buy the land, City Atty. Joseph W. Fletcher said. The project will stretch on Bristol from Warner Avenue to Memory Lane.
The selling price came as part of a settlement this week, just days before the issue was set for trial in Orange County Superior Court, Fletcher said.
The city originally proposed paying $680,000 for the land but increased it to just more than $1 million, Fletcher said. As part of the settlement, the city will pay $280,000 to buy some contents from the businesses and to cover attorney fees and other costs.
