Actor Christian Slater Gets 90 Days in Jail
Actor Christian Slater failed Friday to avoid a 90-day jail term for beating his girlfriend and fighting police who found him screaming in a hallway during a drug and alcohol bender.
Judge Joseph S. Biderman rejected Slater’s request to substitute time already spent in a drug treatment center for the jail term.
But the judge allowed Slater to begin the sentence Wednesday rather than Saturday, the date previously set. The new date is a day after the Hollywood premiere of Slater’s new film, “Hard Rain.”
Slater’s term is to be followed by three months in a residential drug treatment program and a year in a treatment program for batterers.
Slater, 28, was arrested Aug. 11 after officers were called to a brawl at a Wilshire Boulevard condominium. He pleaded no contest to battering a female companion and a police officer and being under the influence of a controlled substance.
