2 Strikes Against Judge in DUI Case

Share via

The articles describing the handling of Judge Robert C. Bradley’s second drunk-driving arrest in less than a month clearly illustrate what is wrong with both our DUI laws and the application of “different laws for different people.”

This judge has probably presided over countless cases involving death and mayhem caused by drunk drivers, yet he still continues to endanger the lives of others!

Choosing to drive drunk is not, never was and never will be a mistake. It is a crime. It is a deliberate choice that can only be made with a total disregard for others. It doesn’t matter whether the drunk driver is a judge, celebrity, doctor, lawyer or a Kennedy.

I was especially amused by Sgt. Steve Carter’s statement to The Times that “Judge Bradley didn’t get any special treatment here.” Nice to know that if I am arrested for a crime, I will be chauffeured home by police officers!

Even more asinine was attorney George Eskin’s statement that “Drunk driving isn’t like stealing or a crime of violence and is not a reflection of Judge Bradley’s integrity.”

Eskin is absolutely correct. Drunk driving is not like stealing because most thefts do not result in death or serious injury. As for his opinion that drunk driving is not a crime of violence, I am quite certain that if Princess Diana were here she would adamantly disagree!

* Re: Judge Bradley:

I have been a professional driver for 25 years. People can drink till they drop in their time of sorrow but they sure don’t have to drive and jeopardize innocent people.

I think everybody deserves a second chance in life. This is strike two, back to back, and it is like the director of the rehab center said: It’s premature for you to go back to work. Your judgment is clearly clouded to think and resolve matters of law.

Go ahead and deal with it and stop the denials.
