USC Can’t Handle Hot-Shooting Stanford
No. 11 Stanford shot 61% from the field and handed USC its worst loss of the season, 89-55, in a Pacific 10 Conference game before 908 at the Lyon Center on Friday.
USC (6-8, 1-4) guard Kristin Clark had 20 points, but the Trojans shot only 32.7% from the field. Stanford (7-5, 4-1) had a 42-23 rebounding advantage and led at halftime, 47-21.
UCLA 74, California 53--Erica Gomez sparked the Bruins (9-5, 4-1) with 14 points off the bench and UCLA outscored California (5-9, 1-3) by 19 points in the second half for the victory before 1,581 at Pauley Pavilion.
