Lopez Scores 26, Orange Coast Beats Santa Ana

Chris Lopez scored 26 points and Shaun Jackson added 24 before fouling out as Orange Coast beat visiting Santa Ana, 106-91, Wednesday.

Jackson, OCC’s leading scorer, fouled out with 7 minutes 32 seconds left, but the Pirates (14-7, 3-2) were able to increase their lead because of inspired play by several players. Brady Clark, playing with four fouls, scored 11 of his 18 points after Jackson fouled out.

Lopez had 15 points and Jackson 14 in the first half as Orange Coast led, 51-42. Santa Ana (10-11, 3-3) started to press in the first half and OCC Coach Tim O’Brien said that allowed his team time to adjust to it instead of facing it for the first time down the stretch.

Lohnnie Tape had 27 for Santa Ana, which got as close as 83-74 with 7:32 left.
