Standard Opposed
I strongly object to Laurie Winer’s review of “Los Biombos/The Screens” at the East L.A. Skills Center (Jan. 19).
Anyone who goes to see theater performed in a nonprofessional venue by amateur actors does not expect professional acting. These actors are working people. They came together on weekends and at night to prepare a brilliant adaptation of Genet to California’s Hispanic immigrant realities.
To crucify amateur actors is unconscionable.
